Here we have a 5" gauge Maxitrak 'Ruby' o-4-o side tank. The boiler is a professionally made silver soldered copper 'marine' type boiler, with the usual slide out ash pan and grate. The boiler comes fully tested to twice working pressure on hydraulic, and the loco comes as usual with a fresh steam test to ensure all is working as it should.
Mechanically all is well. Fitted with an injector, crosshead water pump with footplate mounted bypass valve as well as a hand pump on the footplate. Lubrication is mechanical and dead easy to get at on top of the right hand cylinder. There's also a snazzy little ash pan shute under the footplate to help sweep away the ash. A simple loco with straight forward Hackworth valve gear, ideal for that tight radius garden railway and an affordable and easy to maintain way into the hobby.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
